Approach to learning G Gracenotes + Strikes

On the note

Start by playing the G Gracenote, and an interval later play the strike (this will depend on which note you are on). Over time, shorten the gap between the G Gracenote and the strike.

Collapsed G Gracenotes + Strikes

No matter how close to each other you play the G gracenote to the strike, there always needs to be a distinct gracenote and a strike in the embellishment. A collapsed G Gracenote + Strike is when there is a partial (or complete) overlap between the G gracenote and the strike.

How close should you play the G Gracenote from the strike? For different reasons (expression, unison, etc.), G Gracenotes + Strikes can be played spaced or as tight as possible. They need to be at least close enough as to not interfere with the melody.

To a note

G Gracenotes + Strikes to a note are played as part of the actual transition to that note. Whatever the note you are on, the destination note will determine which strike to play. Start by changing notes with a G gracenote, then play the strike corresponding to the destination note.
